Grinderman Announce Remix Album
About 99 times out of 100, most remix albums are redundant and just plain boring. They don’t offer anything new and I could care less what a new version of a song I like sounds like after some dork with headphones decides he needs to change it up. I just don’t see the point. However, every once in a while, there’s an exception. And now, this exception takes the form of Grinderman.
It’s been about a month since the band stunned everyone by calling it quits. Nick Cave simply said “see you all in ten years” at the band’s final Australian festival appearance before poking fun at inevitable band reunions “when we’re older and even uglier.” And with that, the band closed the book. However, shortly after, the band’s website announced a remix album, set to be released March 12th. Like I said, it’d be whatever if I had heard about it from any other band, but Grinderman has a habit of employing the right people to get the job done. Exhibit A: UNKLE’s remix of the unforgiving “Worm Tamer.”
Hyper Worm Tamer (UNKLE remix) – Grinderman
Sick stuff right? The rest of the roll call looks awesome too. They’ve got likes of Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, A Place to Bury Strangers, Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the National’s Matt Berninger, Barry Adamson (dude has done some sick soundtrack work with David Lynch), and much more. It looks like they’ve picked the best of the best. Full tracklist below along with a couple of the remixes that have been available. This actually looks like it could be a good album overall.
